Play Golf Solitaire with the rules at hand

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Golf Solitaire. Remove all 35 tableau cards. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Seven columns of five, one stock pass. Free solo play, no wagering.

Practice beyond the first move

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.

The purpose of your moves

Remove all 35 tableau cards. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Making your moves

  1. Take an exposed bottom card one rank above or below the waste top, allowing ace–king wrapping.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Using the playing area

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

Learn from a sample situation

Waste queen accepts jack or king. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Look for the relevant detail.

A common point of confusion

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
