Learn your way around Memory Pairs

Open Memory Pairs, check the instructions and begin a round. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Something to practise

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your objective

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Making your moves

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

How to use the controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Use one clear input at a time.

Follow the example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Look for the relevant detail.

A common point of confusion

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
